A customer traded in a 2008 M3, Hardtop Convertible, Grey on Black, 6sp on Wednesday this week. He left with a 2014 GTI Autobahn, automatic, 2-door. Said he wanted something cheaper and easier to commute in.
I drove the M3. First BMW I've ever driven and I'm in love. The gearbox and clutch were surprisingly easy to adapt to from the GTI, and the sound of that V8 is erotic. I want one, asap. The only complaint I have is that the cupholder can only be accessed by opening the armrest, which makes no sense to me, but it's a small price to pay.
What. A. Sound.

The cup holders (and why do you care about cup holders?) pop out of the trim on the dash. They're still almost useless but are not in fact in the armrest.
The E93 is too heavy. It's 400 (!!!!) pounds heavier than the already-heavy, 3700lb E90. Try to drive a non-vert and you'll see what I mean.
You're VERY right about the engine =)

There should be 2 additional cup holders that eject out of the dash on the passenger side. Unless the vert is different from the E92/E90.

Ah, missed those. There was a single one under the armrest/console thing, which I thought was weird. I was looking for somewhere to stick my phone so it wouldn't fly off the seat and break or something.
Also, damn, didn't realize there was such a weight gain! I definitely want to drive a hardtop and see if it feels different now.
